Athena II – 385nm COB Light Source Replacement (Beta)

This article provides instructions for beta test customers who are replacing the standard 405nm light source in their Athena II printer with the 385nm COB light source.

The procedure involves accessing the electronics compartment from the bottom of the printer, removing the existing 405nm light source, and installing the 385nm replacement. No permanent modifications are required, and the original hardware can be reinstalled if needed.

Before starting, ensure the printer is fully powered off and unplugged. The resin vat and build plate must be removed from the print chamber to prevent spills or damage when the printer is placed on its side.

You can view the full, illustrated step-by-step instructions in the Google Doc linked below:

After installation, the new light source should be tested using the display/light test. Resin exposure recalibration is required, as exposure times at 385nm differ from 405nm. Please note that while most resins are compatible with 385nm, some materials may not perform as expected.
